Early planning for internationalising

There are a variety of ways to internationalise as the Erasmus+ project displayed. Many social enterprises that took part in the project wished that they had done more planning. Even though planning may contradict the entrepreneurial spirit that many on the case study organisations exhibited. However, when they reflect on their past experiences many wished that they had done more planning. Therefore, the advice that can be drawn from this project is to do research before you size the opportunity.

The level of support available to social enterprises whishing to internationalise varies greatly from country to country, however, the social enterprise ecosystems are rapidly evolving. Also consult your Board of Governors, start networking and business planning. Most importantly consider how internationalisation sits with your organisational vision and mission.
